TransitCrafter

For planners and researchers

Resident demand you can check, count and download.

TransitCrafter turns scattered complaints into located, counted and labelled evidence, with the method published and the data open. It complements formal consultation. It does not replace it.

What planners get

  • Counted by people, not taps

Support is counted per distinct person. Verified residents count more, brand-new devices less, and many votes from one network are discounted.

  • Located and in context

Every idea is a point or a drawn line, grouped by neighbourhood. Route suggestions stay attached to the existing route they refer to.

  • Confidence you can read

Each idea is labelled Early signal, Growing support or Strong support, using published thresholds applied the same way to every idea.

  • Open data, ready for GIS

Download trusted ideas as GeoJSON or CSV from the hotspots page. Example data is never included.

How it fits your workflow

  1. Scan

Open the hotspots to see where demand clusters across the city.

  2. Check

Look at an idea’s confidence label, how many different people back it and over how many days.

  3. Export

Download GeoJSON or CSV and join it with your own layers.

  4. Follow up

Use the evidence to decide where a study, a pilot or formal engagement is worth running.

What is in the download

Anonymous, aggregate community input only. No names, no raw vote totals, no moderation state.

  • Location as a point or line
  • Category and the pain points chosen
  • Neighbourhood
  • Supporters and the confidence label
  • Length of a proposed route
  • For route changes: the route, direction, kind of change and the stops involved

Know the limits

  • Self-selected, not representative

People who report are not a statistical sample. A strong idea is a signal to investigate, not a mandate.

  • Independent

TransitCrafter is not affiliated with Winnipeg Transit and is not an official channel.

  • Network data is borrowed

Routes and stops come from the City’s published timetable feed, checked every week, so very recent service changes may not appear yet.
